Project Overview

About The Project

This was a quick UX/UI project practice that was completed in two weeks. We were trying to design a travel app for creating and sharing a better travel experience. This idea came to our mind from a couple of personal experiences. My team member and I like traveling together, and both of us would like to create our group travel stories as well as share our trip experience and tips with others, which inspired us to take it as a design challenge.

The Challenge

Traveling is always an excellent way to connect with friends and families. People created sharing memories along the journey. Many travelers like to share travel experiences on blogs, online forums. In this project, our team tries to determine the best way to help people share their travel experience and engage with their family and friends, as well as get valuable traveling information from others' posts.

Competitive Analysis

Travel apps in the market mostly focus on flights, hotel booking and provide planners for trips.
Existing apps don't provide an organized online community that allows users to share and connect with others.
Even with the one that can share travel experience, users can only share text and few images.
It's hard to collaborate with others if users want to invite friends and family members to write the story.

User Research

To better understand users’ needs and their goals, we created a survey in Qualtrics and distributed them through emailing links and sharing on social media. Finally, we had 35 respondents expressed their opinions.
We also interviewed 5 people to share their opinions in terms of their travel experience and usage on travel apps.

Results:

71% of the respondents expressed the desire to document travel stories with those who traveled together.
85% answered they like to read travel stories from other people and looked for recommendations before traveling.
4/5 interview respondents answered features like an invitation and how easy collaborating the story valued the most for them on an app.
3/5 interview respondents answered feature that gives them recommendations according to their locations while traveling can help them save time.
